Angela D. Byrd, a highly-recognized PR and communications executive, is Founder and CEO of PICG Incorporated. Like a boss, Angela personally delivers in creating and implementing impactful PR campaigns that have consistently met or exceeded client expectations. “The relentless passion I have for my craft speaks volumes for me.” She goes the distance for clients providing service to them within or outside of the United States.
Angela’s record of proven results rests on her extensive experience in areas including marketing, strategic communications, media relations, social media, market research, community relations and public affairs ― coupled with her deep commitment to building trust and reputation for clients.
Angela has spent more than 25 years on the corporate scene winning several awards and accolades for her work in positions involving communications, market research, legislative affairs, advertising sales, and business management. The companies she worked for represented diverse industries including Constellation Energy (Baltimore Gas & Electric), CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield of Maryland, T. Rowe Price and Associates, Lucent Technologies, and WBAL-TV (NBC Baltimore).
Inspired to leverage her talents and knowledge of communications and PR consulting to help influence others on how to showcase the best of their talents and shine, she left the corporate world in 2011 to start her own public relations company and a non-profit organization.
Incorporating some of her broadcast journalism training from TV news outlets in New York and Baltimore: WNBC, WMAR (ABC) and CBS Baltimore (WJZ) has afforded her accomplishments including work with an education reporter that garnered local news Emmy attention for WMAR-TV ABC2 News Making A Difference segment featuring a chef client and was responsible for bringing local press coverage to HBO Network’s The Weight of the Nation Press Conference in Baltimore.
She boosted media presence and visibility resulting in four phenomenally successful annual fundraisers (2015 - 2018) for Baltimore-based non-profit, Dress for Success Greater Baltimore, Suited to Succeed. In addition to her PR assignments, she performs branding, image, and marketing consulting work for entrepreneurs.
In August 2017, she was sworn in to serve a two-year appointment, and re-appointed in March 2018 and 2020, as an on-call media spokesperson for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) during presidential-declared disasters in the United States. She successfully completed several media relations assignments which included covering Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Florence, and served as a joint information manager for the most recent catastrophic and costly wildfire event in California history.
Leveraging her talents for community service and leadership, she proudly shares the role as Co-Founder and President of EachOne TeachOne Culinary Arts Foundation (EOTOCAF) with personal chef and caterer, Jeff Hunt. EOTOCAF is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization based in Charlotte, North Carolina where she assumes the role of President and COO.
She has served on the board of directors for Dress for Success Greater Baltimore – Suited to Succeed and the Hubert V. Simmons Museum of Negro Leagues Baseball in Maryland. Additionally, Angela served as an executive board member of the Baltimore Association of Black Journalists.
Focused on engaging in current industry trends, Angela has been active in a number of professional and civic groups. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalists, American Marketing Association, Public Relations Society of America, and the National Association of Professional Women.
She has been featured in the Prince George's County Women's Journal as one of the Business Women in Profile, The Baltimore Sun Fashion Forward column, 3 Women Voices blog, and has spoken on the subject of PR on several radio shows.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, she holds a BA in Mass Communications from Towson University, studied Publicity and PR from Johns Hopkins University, and a former MBA candidate from the University of Phoenix. She is currently working on solidifying her PR credentials through the Public Relations Society of America.
Angela now resides in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is boss mom to two boss creatives.
